The Serenity Prayer  /  first look

“God, grant me the serenity…”

Your man, in his own pencil, saying the first line of the prayer. I drew him from your character sheet and kept the cream paper, then let him speak.

14 seconds, one take, 16:9a still lake at first light, so nothing pulls the eye from his face

The prayer, as you wrote it

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.

↑ this is the part he says above

Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your will;
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

  • You asked for accurate lip-sync. His mouth opens on each word and rests in the pauses.
  • Keep the character’s face and appearance consistent. Same man from the first frame to the last, the one from your sheet with the face studies.
  • No lag, flickering. The lake, the hills and the paper stay perfectly still behind him, only he moves.
  • Every word of the first line, exactly as you wrote it, in a calm voice with the music kept low.

The full clip

The whole prayer through to “Amen”, every word exactly as written, in the same face, the same pencil and the same calm voice, with the music kept quiet underneath. Delivered wide (16:9) and tall (9:16).
